The dreaded “E” word. . .

gut1.jpg

I’ve got to start exercising. I blogged about 2 months ago that I was trying to hit my weight loss goal of losing 10% of my body weight. I achieved closer to 13% and got down to 184lbs. As of the last week I’ve been holding steady at 200lbs. It’s all in my gut. I’m well on my way to the world of our big bellied friend picture above.

I need to start running again. I have no motivation to run, however. Some people will comment on this and say “don’t run. . .it’s bad for your knees”. . . or “don’t run. . . bike” or “ELIPTICAL!” Here’s the deal. . .you’re missing the point. A) I love running. When I’m in shape, I love it. 2) Exercise is not on my radar right now. It’s not that I’m not doing anything physical it’s just the idea of “going to the gym” or getting to the point where it’s fun isn’t exciting me right now.

I’ve been here before and I’ve snapped out of it. I will again. The weight just comes so quick now.

Alright. . .I’m going running. Right now. I’m doing it.

In the morning.

Hopefully.

I can’t lose it! I’ve just now figured out how to incorporate it into my swing!

Not that I’m trying to lose weight, but here’s what I went through when it came to exercising:

I had a membership at the YMCA so I could work out. A lot of mornings I didn’t want to deal with working out though because that meant I’d have to get out of the house (not fun in the winter), drive to the gym, work out, drive back home, etc.

It’s not the working out that bothered me, it’s everything it took to get there. What did I do?

I got a weight bench for my house. It’s SO much easier. Now I just wake up, stretch a little and get to it. I get all the exercises I need out of it without leaving mi casa. It’s a big time AND money saver because in case no one’s told you lately, YMCA memberships are about as cheap as running your car on fabriche eggs and bald eagle heads.

just remember that any physical activity is better than nothing at all. i have to keep my exercising varied so i don’t get bored and forget it all together. if you don’t want to run, don’t. just do something else.

i agree with smitty – think of all the time you’ll save by exercising at your house. also, meeting with a trainer a couple of times a week has really helped me stick with a weight program.

I love that picture! The way he stretched his neckline all the way under his belly, the way his belly button is so stressed it’s a verticle line, the way his coloring is two shades shy of an Umpa Loompa is great too! Man your photography skills have come a long way since the cowboy boot picture. Keep it up!

clarification: weight program as in lifting weights at the gym. :)
