Oh My Sweet Carolina by Ryan Adams – Seriously, I believe it’s one of the finest songs ever written, so it’s hard to choose just one lyric, but I’ll go with “Up here in the city, feels like things are closing in. The sunset’s just my light bulb burning out. I miss Kentucky and I miss my family. All the sweetest winds they blow across the south.”

I know I’ll catch some flack for this, but… “I’m Not Ready to Make Nice” by the Dixie Chicks… sorry, it’s just that I’ve lived that song the last year or so.

And my favorite “gospel” song is “From the Insode Out” by Hillsong, just because it says what my soul has been wanting to say for years but I just couldn’t wordsmith it so beautifully.
